Culture Day

Some of our wonderful students have organized a special event to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures within our Sherwood community, and we couldn't be prouder of their initiative. Here is their message:

On Friday, May 10, we invite all students to participate in Culture Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate our diversity in a fun and meaningful way.

Here's how you can participate:

  • Dress in your cultural clothing or wear something significant to your culture and identity, such as a the colors of your country or a rainbow flag.
  • If you're unsure about your cultural attire, feel free to dress in the style of a friend's culture (with their permission), so we can celebrate together as Sherwood Archers.

In addition to celebrating through clothing, we're excited to announce that we'll have food trucks on campus offering a variety of delicious treats, including tacos, quesadillas, perogies, poutine, lemonade (including horchata and mojito), bubble tea, and cookie dough desserts.

We encourage students not to rely solely on food trucks for their lunch as we have limited time and we cannot guarantee availability.

Event Details

  • Date: Friday, May 10
  • Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
  • Cost: Each item will be approximately $10

We'll be awarding points to each class based on participation in Cultural  Day. The class with the most points will receive a special prize!

Additionally, we'll be hosting a "Guess the Image" game. Participants who correctly guess the country of the image will have the chance to win exciting prizes. The first three correct entries will be rewarded!

We're looking forward to a day filled with celebration, unity, and fun. Thank you for finding some great things for your child to wear to  support us all in making Sherwood a welcoming and inclusive community for all.
