Sherwood School is fortunate to be supported by a dedicated Parent Society. The Parent Society is a formal, incorporated group that works collaboratively with the school and School Council to raise and manage funds that enhance opportunities and experiences for all Sherwood students.

Through school based fundraising initiatives and participation in charitable gaming opportunities such as casinos, the Parent Society helps provide additional financial resources beyond the school's regular operating budget. Funds may be used, in accordance with applicable CBE and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis requirements, to support priorities such as educational equipment and supplies, technology, student activities and experiences, enrichment opportunities, and transportation costs associated with field trips.

The Parent Society's primary role is fundraising and providing additional financial support to enhance student learning and the school experience. This is different from School Council, whose primary role is to provide parents and members of the school community with a voice in school matters and to advise the Principal and CBE on issues related to student learning and the school community.

Although School Council and the Parent Society are separate organizations with different responsibilities, they work closely together to support the shared goal of making Sherwood an exceptional place for students to learn, grow, connect, and belong.

Every parent and guardian at Sherwood is welcome and encouraged to participate. You do not need previous experience or a formal position to get involved. Families can attend meetings, volunteer at events, participate in fundraising initiatives, help with casino opportunities, share ideas, or simply come to learn more about what is happening at Sherwood.

Whether you can contribute a little time or a lot, your participation helps strengthen our school community and creates additional opportunities for our students.
