Archer Arrow Winter Break | Fees, Digital Citizenship, Casino, Parking Lot,
As we enter the final week of the 2023 year, on behalf of our staff, thank you for all that you do to help make Sherwood a wonderful place to be. We appreciate your engagement, volunteering, kindness, and support but most importantly, your amazing kids!
Enjoy the holiday ahead. We hope it is full of whatever brings you and your family joy and rejuvenation.
We look forward to welcoming students back on January 8, 2024.
Fees
Semester 2 fees have been added to your parent MyCBE account, please note that you have all year to pay fees, and that there may be some changes as students request different options throughout January and February.
For students taking Band their fees will be loaded in the new year- grade 6 students taking band will not have a fee applied as band is part of their CTF Cluster
We are hoping that all fee issues have been resolved, and we will continue to monitor into the New Year, if you are still experiencing some difficulties or concerns regarding fees please email me at Michelle Moss - mimoss@cbe.ab.ca.
Digital Citizenship
The New Year is a great time to reflect with your child on their digital citizenship choices and for those with phones, to review securities and usage. As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and positive learning environment, we encourage all parents to take a moment over the break to check and discuss your child's online presence.
Here are a few tips to guide your conversation:
- Review Messages and Apps
Take a look at the messages and apps your child is using. Familiarize yourself with their online interactions and ensure they are engaging in positive and respectful conversations. - Social Media Presence
Check your child's social media accounts. Ensure their profiles reflect a positive image, and discuss responsible social media behavior with them. - Privacy Settings
Verify that privacy settings are appropriately configured. Teach your child the importance of safeguarding personal information and adjusting settings for their safety. - Open Communication
Encourage open communication. Let your child know they can come to you with any concerns or issues they may be facing online.
Our goal is to create a supportive community that values both online and offline interactions. Your involvement is key to fostering a safe and positive digital environment for our students.
As always, thank you for everything you do to support student learning at Sherwood.
Kind regards,
Karena

Casino Fundraiser
Sherwood’s next casino fundraiser will take place on Saturday May 4 to Sunday May 5! This is our main form of fundraising at Sherwood and all money raised goes towards enhancing classrooms and educational programming for your children. Please save the date and consider volunteering some of your time that weekend. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months!
Parking Lot Usage between Sherwood and Banting and Best Schools
Parents and guardians please refrain from using the parking lot located between Sherwood and Banting and Best Schools for pick-up and drop-off . This area is reserved for staff vehicles only, and congestion can lead to safety concerns. We appreciate your cooperation in using designated drop-off zones and nearby street parking to ensure a safe environment for all students. The community center is welcoming parents parking, when picking up, dropping or visiting Sherwood.
Weather
Please make sure students are dressed for the weather, have both indoor and outdoor shoes. Layers work best as students will be both indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
