Snow Agreement
As weather changes, we are reminding students to follow the Sherwood Snow Agreement. We are encouraging families to review with your students
At Sherwood School, we believe we have a shared responsibility to create an environment where everyone has a strong sense of “Belonging”.
We are thoughtful, caring and considerate of others. We build a sense of “Generosity” by unconditionally giving to others.
Every child has a sense of “Mastery”. When problem solving, students are encouraged to explore different solutions.
Both parents and teachers help students become responsible for the choices that they make. Our students demonstrate increased “Independence” as they are able to do so.
The purpose of this agreement is to have a shared understanding of how we will play with the snow on our school grounds.
- Stay off the ice and away from pylons; they are out for a reason and should stay where the adults placed them
- Keep snow on ground rather than throwing it, spraying it or pushing it into someone
- Leave ice on the ground; if you kick the snow and ice, someone might get hurt
- Respect other people’s creations (forts, snow people, sculptures); do not destroy them
- Share the snow by making a plan together; the plan can be to work together and create as you build
- Dress appropriately
- There is a lot of snow; make the choice to play in a different spot in the field if you can’t agree
- Respect the personal space of others; no one likes to be buried in snow, have snow down their backs or in their hats
- Listen to the ideas of others and try something new; use new coloured spray to create a piece of snow art
- Keep snow out of your mouth
- If others are doing something unsafe or disrespectful; ask them to stop and if that doesn’t work, let an adult know
- Listen to others, including the adults who are trying to keep you safe
Sherwood Learning Commons
To help keep our Learning Commons organized and welcoming for everyone, please remind students to return furniture and equipment to their original places after use:
✅ Fabric chairs should be placed back in the center of the room, not left at the tables.
✅ Tech carts must be returned to the back of the room and plugged in.
✅ Chairs should be tucked in neatly.
✅ No furniture should be placed near the bookshelves.
Thank you for your support in maintaining this shared space!
Online Conferences
With labour action by CUPE Local 40 members limiting access to CBE schools after hours, the decision has been made to move March parent/teacher conferences online.
Here is what you need to know:
- If your child’s school has not yet scheduled March conferences, these will be booked online.
- If your child’s school has already scheduled March conferences, you will receive an email this week confirming your date and time and providing a Microsoft Teams link for your online conferences.
If your child’s school has conferences scheduled beyond March 2025, further communication will be provided if any changes are required.
Updates regarding current labour action can be found on the CBE web page.
Dig Fest
Due to the ongoing CUPE strike, spectators at games will be limited to parents/guardians and siblings of the participating athletes. Additionally, the concession will not be available during this time. We appreciate your understanding and support.
