Families across Calgary are invited to join the Calgary Board of Education in celebrating Family Literacy Week from Jan. 26 to Feb. 2, with a focus on environmental learning through the theme “Learn to Be Green, Together.”

The CBE Literacy & Early Learning Team has prepared a variety of information and activities to help families engage in meaningful learning at home and at school. Reading together or doing learning activities at home is crucial to a child’s learning and development.

Here’s how families can participate:

Since 1999, schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups across Canada have taken part in Family Literacy Day which takes place every Jan. 27.

Thank You Notes

The Well-Being team is thrilled to bring together nearly 800 middle-school participants, amplifying and empowering student voices.

A key highlight of the day is the creation and collaboration of School Well-Being Action Teams. These student-led teams are shaping a culture of well-being that supports every school in the CBE.

Thank you to Our SWAT Council (Sherwood Well-Being Action Team) joined hundreds of empowered CBE students at MRU, working together to create positive change! Students had the opportunity to delve into the importance of this work from Superintendent Joanne Pitman and Knowledge Keeper Hal Eagletail, and interact with students across the CBE and much more! Through collaboration, leadership, and action, we're shaping a school community where well-being comes first!

Parking – Please Do NOT drop or pick up students in the staff parking lot

Reminder the parking lot is for Sherwood and Banting and Best staff ONLY – please do not use the parking lot for drop off and pick up as it is a safety issue for our students.  When we choose convenience over safety, we are putting students at risk, and we all have an interest in keeping students safe.
