Bussing

For students registered to ride the school bus, the pull-away time from Sherwood after school is 3:00 pm. If your student normally takes the bus after school, please make sure you contact the office before pull-away time to notify us of any changes to that routine, such as they are being picked up or are walking home. If your student is registered for the bus but will not be using the service, please cancel in your Parent PowerSchool account, and notify the office.

City Transit Plan Update

Now that we've completed two weeks of school, we've reviewed our approach to transportation to ensure we are best supporting all of our students. We understand that the convenience of catching the #41 or #36 bus, which stops beside the school on 20 A Street, has been helpful for many students. We agree with the students' suggestion that if they board the bus immediately after school, they won't be lingering and will avoid creating any noise disturbance for the daycare.

To help with supervision and ensure student safety:

  • If your child catches the bus, please remind them not to exit through the grades 4 and 5 doors and to board the bus immediately.
  • If they miss the first bus, we ask that they wait for the next one either in front of the school on 66 Avenue in front of the school or near the seniors' residence.

This helps us keep a close eye on all students.

Thank you for your continued support in making our school community safe and smooth for everyone.

Calgary Transit provides the best information.  Students/Parents can use the Plan-a-Trip scheduler on the home page.  Please enter the information needed and it will provide you with the schedule and route the bus will take to get you to the destination in both a map and written form.  There are bus stops going both east bound and westbound on 66 Avenue that can be used as reference points from our school address of 2011 - 66 Avenue SE.

Please note that the bus can change its route number on certain parts of the trip, but it remains on the same circular route.

Terry Fox Run

This year’s campaign, called #NoMatterWhat celebrates Terry’s determination and persistence. When running his Marathon of Hope in 1980 he faced many challenges along the way, but he kept going – no matter the obstacles, no matter the journey, no matter the odds - NO MATTER WHAT. We know that schools coast to coast to coast will carry on his legacy to raise funds for cancer research and display their amazing “NoMatterWhat” efforts for this year’s Run.

Online Resources

Websites like "Mind Your Mind" and "Build Them Up" offer a range of tools and information to help manage stress and promote mental wellness.

Community Programs: The City of Calgary, the Calgary Public Library and YCC in Ogden all have excellent programs designed to keep young minds active and engaged over the summer months.

Additionally, we are excited to share an Indigenous Community Resource Guide to support our families. Please see the attached guide to find information on Indigenous connections and resources.
