In recognition of Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples' Day, in alignment with the CBE Three-Year Education Plan, Sherwood acknowledges and supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's (TRC) Calls to Action. Students and staff reflected on our current TRC Commitment to Action to walk forward with a renewed commitment for 2024-25. Call to Action #63.3 offered inspiration.

Sherwood students and staff honoured National Indigenous Peoples' Day by celebrating First Nations, Inuit & Métis Peoples with Lorelei Higgins Parker, known by her ancestral name as Blue Thunder Spirit Woman. Lorelei is a Métis Canadian Cultural Mediator, a Rotary Peace Fellow and Positive Peace Activator, and a Governor General's Canadian Leadership Program alumna. Thank you, Lorelei, for empowering our students!

Sherwood students engaged in community walks and sit spots near the ridge overlooking the beautiful Bow River. What a unique opportunity to celebrate summer solstice, the abundance of daylight, the peak of summer, and National Indigenous Peoples' Day.
