Thank Yous
As this school year comes to an end, we would like to recognize our entire school community for their unwavering commitment to excellence and to uncovering student gifts in learning:
To our teachers and staff, thank you for all the work you put in day by day to promote growth in your students, and for the love, care and compassion you show your students while you do it;
To our parents, thank you for your support and dedication to helping your children find fulfillment in learning;
To the School Council, thank you for helping us nurture student learning through fundraising and volunteering;
And last but not least, to our students, thank you for your engagement and willingness to go the extra mile on your learning; we are very proud to have shared this journey with you. Big congratulations to all of you for a successful year, and to the grade 9 Graduates; I'm confident we have prepared you well for the challenges that await you in High School, remember to always believe in yourself, work hard, be kind, shoot for the stars and find joy in the journey!
We look forward to meeting all our new students joining us at Sherwood from Banting and Best and Riverbend Schools alongside our families who have moved into the community. We also wish the best to students in grade 4 to grade 8 who are leaving Sherwood all the best, whether it be to another school in Calgary or elsewhere.
Report Cards
The CBE no longer prints paper copies of student report cards. Wednesday report cards become available through My CBE/PowerSchool portal. Once logged in, you will see an additional tab titled "Report Card". Select this tab to view the report card. We are proud of our student's accomplishments and wish them the best in learning next year. Report cards will be visible through end-July, and then access will be turned off in preparation for the new school year.

Farewells
At the end of the year, it's always bitter-sweet, on one hand, sad to say goodbye and, on the other, exciting to think of new opportunities for incredible people. This year we say farewell to some outstanding teachers we’ve loved to walk alongside͢—Ms Iveson, Ms Kaur, Ms Friesen, Ms Saunders, Ms Bal and Ms Park’s temporary contracts are coming to an end.
A huge congratulations to Ms Flight, Ms Tanner, and Mr Yuswak for successfully landing positions at North Trail High school, Mackenzie Lake and Mackenzie Highlands (respectively)!
We cannot thank you enough for your commitment to Sherwood students, you will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the best in your continued work with the CBE, and maybe we'll see some of you in our halls and classrooms next year! We wish you all the best, and on behalf of the students at Sherwood, I thank you sincerely for making a difference.
And remember, once a Sherwood Archer always a Sherwood Archer!
Congratulations
This upcoming year we are welcoming Ms Doyle back and Ms Shields will be moving back into the role of Student Services Learning Leader. Huge thank you to Ms Shields who worked tirelessly this school year supporting both the Assistant Principal role and the Student Services role. We’re thrilled to be welcoming back Ms Toews and Collins into permanent positions after being here this year as probationary teachers and Ms Bal, Ms Park and Ms Saunders who have accepted probationary positions. And we look forward to welcoming Ms Fox, Ms Hiley and Mr Laflamme and seeing them light up our hallways this September.
Programming Changes
We will be welcoming a Day Care program at Sherwood next year as Banting and Best is moving to half day kindergarten the Day Care will support families with that need and as such we will be making some small adjustments, including moving the Grade 6s back to the Ogden Wing and moving the LEAD and Hull Star programs into the upstairs Riverbend Hallways.
Important Dates for Next School Year
The office will reopen at noon on August 26th. Teachers will return on August 26th for the first three days of meetings and organizational times in preparation for the school year. New Student Orientation, for all Grade 4s, all Grade 7s (new and returning) and all other new to Sherwood students, is on Thursday, August 29 at 8:10 am to 2:50. Students will be greeted with an assembly in the Gym and then head off to their classes. We will welcome the rest of our students on Friday, August 29th, at 8:10 am.
